Mystery Book Discussion June – THE MURDER OF MR. MA

Mystery Book Discussion June – THE MURDER OF MR. MA

In London in 1924, the scholar Lao She meets Judge Dee Ren Jie. Dee is investigating the murder of a man who worked alongside him in the Chinese Labour Corps during World War I. Their investigation takes them all over London and into the homes and businesses of Chinese immigrants fighting to find a place in a country mired in xenophobia and anti-Chinese sentiment. It’s a bit murder mystery, a bit martial arts action movie and a bit historical drama; think Warrior meets Sherlock Holmes.
