History of Radio

Babcock Library Welcomes

John Ellsworth, Director of the

Vintage Radio and Communications Museum of Connecticut

presenting at the library

Saturday, June 1, 2024

Have you ever wondered how wireless communication came about? The miracle of being just about anywhere on earth, and a caller being able to dial your number and the signal finds you and connects. Or, you turn on a radio in your home or car and the signal from local radio stations magically comes through the speaker.

Wireless communications started long before signals were sent through the air in the forms of telegraphy, telephones, and wireless telegraphy. Many discoveries and inventions had to occur to make it happen.

John Ellsworth will share interesting history about this early development, history, and development of the technology. Shared too will be examples of vintage radios for your viewing pleasure!

Please register in advance as seating is limited!

Call 860-487-4420 to reserve your seats.
