Literary Book Discussion – June – The Wild Hunt
The book selection for June 2026 for the Literary Book Discussion is
THE WILD HUNT by Emma Seckel
Summary:
Emma Seckel’s novel takes place after World War II on a Scottish island where the sluagh, lost souls in the shape of crows, gather each October. Down-on-her-luck Leigh returns to the island for her father’s funeral to find that, like so much else, the sluagh have changed after the war. They’ve become unpredictable, more dangerous, and when a boy goes missing, Leigh delves into the island’s secrets. This debut novel is haunting; it deals in the liminal, asking questions about homecoming, perception, communal grief, memory – and hope. The Wild Hunt is perfect for a wuthery, gray day.
